Here is a post that neatly summarizes the changes (concerning Business Connector) in the Dynamics AX 4.0 release.
In the comments section of the linked post, I also see one of the questions I commonly get: "is the .NET Business Connector simply a wrapper on the Axapta 3.0 COM Connector?"
The answer is - no. The managed layer (which contains the managed classes you use to build applications) was written from scratch, as was the transition layer that maps objects in the managed world to the Dynamics AX 4.0 X++ based world.
