There is a parameter in inventory and warehouse parameters that you might want to experiment with depending on how you count inventory. The parameter is lock items during count. The effect of this is that if you include items in the counting journal then it will lock them for other processing in the system. For example trying to receipt a purchase order you will receive a message that the item is locked when trying to post the receipt.

Now if you have multiple warehouses and warehouse 1 is cycle counting but warehouse 2 is not cycle counting then it doesn’t make sense to stop the warehouse 2 from processing. So to avoid this effect make sure you specify the level of how you want to manage the items with the warehouse items setup which you can find when managing the released item.
